Even though the drive to the roundup is quite doable for me, My daughter and son-in-law who camp in a pop-up, have already made arrangements for us all to camp near Pigeon Forge for Labor Day weekend at Townsend, the "quiet side of the Smokies."

I will be sorry to miss you all.

No kidding!  My mom lives near Asheville -- in Brevard.  I'm going up there next weekend.  And I have lots of aunts, uncle, and cousins in Hendersonville, too.  It's a small world for sure!

Hodge-PODge - I'm so envious of your Pigeon Forge trip.  I would love to pull the Pod up there, it's one of my favorite places in the world. We LOVE Cades Cove.  I would love to stay in the Pod close enough to Cades Cove so that I could ride through just after sun-up.  Past vacations in that area have always involved hotels.  And by the time I drag my lazy butt out of bed, hit the pancake shop and finally make it to the Cove, it's usually aproaching noon!  I'd love to stay in the Townsend area in the Pod, but it may have to wait until I get a heftier tow vehicle.  I'm looking into a route that may avoid that monster of a climb up the mountain on I-40.  I want to try a test run one Sunday afternoon over Hwy 74, then up I-26 into Ashville.

Hope you enjoy your Labor Day plans with the family in Townsend.  Perhaps we will meet another time!  Don't forget to post pics, your last ones were great.

What a coincidence.  I will be in Asheville this weekend - or nearby, anyway - in Brevard.  Going to see my mom.  Sure looks like we have the same old stomping grounds.  I remember Pigeon Forge before there ever was a Dollywood.  My, how that place has changed!

Good luck with towing up the mountain!  Let me know how that turns out.

All my family live in the Asheville area, Black Mt, Waynesville and all over. I actually Honeymooned in Gatlinburg. Maybe we could get a round up at Cades cove. How late are they open in the year? Small SMall World

Myself I don't think the change was a good one.  Much too busy now.

OK guys, Labor Day is rapidly approaching.  Is our southern round up going to be only a pair of pode or a flock?  Checked the campground reservations this evening and we still have about 40% of the sites still available.  Here is the link again if anyone wants to join me and tdrace. http://southcarolinaparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/Kings_Mountain/r/campgroundDetails.do?page=details&contractCode=SC&parkId=10417&topTabIndex=CampingSpot

Sorry Sherrie - I've promised Labor Day to the grandkids in Pigeon Forge (Townsend, actually).  Wish I could have come.  Y'all have fun!
