New RPOD-179 owner and asking for help locating the water filter - I assume if there is a filter it is for the fresh water tank?

TIA

There is a water strainer on the pump.  Most use an inline filter after the pressure regulator or some where convenient before the trailer filler.

RPod inline strainer is located with the pump under the bed on the slide side next to the water heater. There is no inline filter. I use a Camco filter with a right-angle adapter to connect to the city water connection or to use a fill tube to put water in the tank.

We have only used well water in our FW tank, usually ours however when we camp out at national parks we often have filled with their well water and have done this since March 2013 with our 177.  We use our FW tank for drinking as as seafans and StephenH point out, there is a inline strainer at the pump.  Outside of sanitizing our tank once a year in May, nothing else is done with our water, we remain very healthy and have suffered no ill effects of not using additional filters or the like.
