Hello from Brentwood, Ca. We purchased a 2013 R-Pod Hood River edition three days ago from the original owners. Waiting for a bunch of stuff from Amazon so I can outfit the rig. I've been getting familiar with the trailer for the past two days. The previous owners didn't have the owners manual so I've been exploring the features of the trailer. Several YouTube videos have been very helpful. I'm in the process of installing a rear view camera on the trailer. I had the WIFI camera working in a pre-installation mode, but when I added wiring to extend the transmitter to the front of the trailer, something went wrong. So now the system is in the house for a revamp. We plan on using the TT primarily for short getaways locally and for extended road trips occasionally.

Welcome and congratulations on your "new to you" RPod. I hope you have many fun adventures and make many great memories with it. You came to what is probably the best owner support forum there is. I have benefited greatly from it and I hope you also find it a great resource for all things RPod.

+2 Welcome.
Don't feel like you missed out on anything by not getting a users manual, there really isn't one with the kind of information you'd expect. Forest River would have to leave the product design alone for long enough to make it worthwhile putting together a manual, which they don't do. In reality the trailers themselves are pretty simple, its the appliances that you'll need manuals for, and you can find those on line. One thing you should do as soon as possible with a ten year of trailer is reseal everything. After that length of time the original sealants will have hardened up and no longer be reliable, The last thing you want to have is water leaks, that can destroy a travel trailer very quickly, Also if you haven;t already done so check for water getting into any concealed areas you can reach, A wood moisture meter (about $35 on Amazon) is useful for this. It has a couple pin probes that you poke into the wood so it can measure the electrical resistance of the piece. The lower the resistance the wetter the wood is. If you find any wet areas get some heat on there to get it dried out ASAP. You've had a wet winter in CA so unless the trailer has been covered now would be a good time to check. I'm a bit puzzled why you would need to extend the wiring to bring the camera transmitter closer, a wifi signal should easily reach from the front of your tow vehicle to the rear of your trailer. |

+3 Welcome to this forum and to the world of r-pods. Am curious as to what model number you have. Also with a now 10 year old unit, unless it has already been replaced, your Dometic fridge is about at the end of its useful life. Hopefully, it has been replaced and if not, maybe you will be able to garner a few more years out of it. Ours went kaput at 10 years, ammonia leak, no way to repair. Fortunately it was 'cannibalized' and over the past 1.5 years was able to part about every available part out to others who needed 'this or that' like shelves, the freezer compartment, motherboard, gas valve, thermistor, propane lines and combustion area, and on and on. They all left to their new owners free, except for the cost of shipping. Nice to be able to recycle all those parts. Also, take a look at your tires to see how old they are, 5 years is the recommendation as to when to replace. And if replacing, don't forget the spare. Over our 12 years, that spare has come in handy more than once. Glad to have you aboard! |
