Our new rpod 196 is parked in the driveway and we are going crazy trying to figure out where to go!! We will do some local shakedowns, but we started planning our first big trip. We planned out a SW trip. Tenn to Carlsbad Caverns, Kartchner SP, Dead Horse Ranch SP, Petrified Forest. Then I heard about spring winds in NM. Anyone with experience in this area. We would leave mid April
Thanks!! |

We live in Southern NM. You can plan on wind most any time of the year. Last week winds reached almost 70 mph in the mountains but that was gusts. We have had a 179 and are now owners of a 195. Wind hasn't seemed to be an issue. Keep in mind that most people pull their r-pods at 55-65 miles per hour down the highway. But sway control is highly recommended.
Also, temperatures will be starting to rise in the southern part of the state by April. Carlsbad is usually among the warmest cities in the state. My wife and I try to leave for the northern mountains by the end of April. Now is a really good time to visit.

Thank you. We are undecided about a spring trip to NM-thinking fall might be better. That would give us more time to do smaller trips before heading west.
