I bought a 2017 178 last year and am very happy with it. I pull it with a 2019 F150 with a 3.5L, 10 speed and towing package and it tows great. 70 mph through the mountains with cruise on is no problem. Put 10,000 miles on her last year. I have 3 basic questions.
1. What do they mean by proper maintenance on the slide out?
2. I was touching up the putty around the vents and noticed there are small holes on top of them that appear to have been puttied over at the factory.
3. The previous owner cut the wires for the CO2 detector. Should I be concerned?

Sorry if these are dumb questions but I really would like to know.

1. Lubricating the track and the seals.
3. The previous owner probably got tired of it going off due to low battery or age (those detectors are only good for 5 years from date of manufacture). I would not camp without the detector, especially if you run the furnace.

Lube the seals with a silicone based rubber seal conditioner/protectant.
White lithium grease is good for the track.

Given the age of the detector, replace it. I had to replace mine this year. Instead of the surface mount one that was there originally, mine is now a flush-mount model. See my mods for details.

I went with flush mount when I replaced mine too. I got tired of kicking the box off the wall. The paneling is really easy to saw through: I used my Leatherman mini tool when I did my install.

I will, at least temporarily, try a plug in with battery back up when I use the propane.

I discovered this under front window, any idea how I should fix this? I wondered if I could put a decal over it?

Looks like someone put in at least two screws that were too long. Easiest fix is, as you said, put a decal over it. Otherwise, it would be to have a place that is familiar with fiberglass repair fix it. That will be the more expensive option, but ultimately, will look better.
