We took our Pod to the dealer for a few warranty repairs and asked them to install the axle risers.  They would not do it as they said it was not recommended by the manufacturer.  Any suggestions?  We do need them to make it easier to get into out driveway.

You may want to ask your dealer to get with FR and ask them why they sell the axle risers if they don't recommend them?  I also have them and were installed by the local FR dealer, no uestions asked, and they are a nice improvement!
Good Luck!!

I will be ordering a new 171 in the spring.  Is there any benefit to adding the axle risers and the 15" tires and wheels or staying with the 14" ones that come with the Rpod?

I ordered mine from the factory with it installed.  Going up in tire size may or may not give you more ground clearance.  The 14" and 15" are the rims not the tires.

On my Jeep Liberty it came with 29" tires on 17" rims.  I wanted  more sidewall and a better selection of off road tires.  So I went to a 16" rim and put 32" tires on them.  The 3" difference in tire height gave me an additional 1.5" of ground clearance.

The R-Pod and Jeep Liberty share the same bolt pattern.  When I change tires on the Pod they will be the same height as the Jeep.  That way I only will need 1 spare tire.  The Liberty is now running 31" tires.

I installed our risers and didn't change the wheels. They work great. We do need to pick up a small folding step stool for the entrance but no more scrapping the driveway apron. They're great!

Oh, for ...

Seems like your dealer prefers to make up answers out of thin air rather than admit they don't have any experience with your issue.  I've also heard it stated by a dealer that the axle risers couldn't be installed "because we're not certified in that type of welding." Complete nonsense. The things come prefabbed and just bolt on.

Many people on both forums have had the risers installed, or done it themselves. There's step-by-step instructions, complete with photos, either on this or the rPod Nation forum.

If you don't want to do it yourself, and your dealer continues to blow smoke, your only other course of action would be to find another dealer that wants to do actual service work.

Be sure to let us know how it turns out for you.

Thanks for the great responses.  I guess I didn't make my self too clear.  I will either order the Hood River edition with the 15" wheels or just order the risers and have them installed.  My question is, " Will the larger wheels make any difference?"  I wonder why the factory makes the Hood River edition available, which comes with the larger wheels, lift kit and diamond plate in a few places.  Should I spring for the Hood River Edition which can be about a $1,500 addition, or just add the risers, and forget the larger wheels and tires?

Yea, find another dealer.  How stupid of a response from them.

The Hood River Edition is supposed to be an off road version.
