I built a mount for a Lagun Table Bracket yesterday for my 178. Just need to powder coat it, can't wait to try it. We camp with our dog and the stock table leg system is to big. how many R Pods are using a Lagun?

Nice work!  I bought a Lagun leg for my 177 but could not come up with a good way to install it.  So, it went back.

Really nice job! It would not have worked in our 179, but it is an elegant solution to have free access with no legs/posts in the way of one's feet.

Why wouldn't this bracket work for a 179?

Because the dinette is at the slide-out on a 179. There is nothing behind the equivalent wall except the outdoors, fender, and wheel/tire. I don't think the tire would take too kindly to having a bracket rubbing against it.

The table is very clumsy to use in that space in the slide out. We just did a 3 week trip wrestling with it. I managed to get a about 5" of foot clearance by moving the leg mounts closer together.  It helped if we took turns sliding into place.

That knee wall under the bench seat seems very solid. I'd like to see more of what is behind it.

What is behind it is the outer wall of the trailer. It is a sandwich of (from outside in) Fiberglass, Azdel (newer models) or Lauan (older models), Aluminum frame with spaces filled with styrofoam, Lauan, and finally, wallpaper. It may seem solid, but it would need to be reinforced to hold a table mount. The problem is that there really isn't that much space on the outside between the wall and the tire to add reinforcement. Search for a video on RPod construction. You will see how they make the walls. I would not even think of trying to mount a table to it.

OTOH, I replaced the table mechanism with dual posts. It is much better. I added a couple of cleats to the ottomans (I had to move the one near the bed a little) so that the table rests on them when it is taken down. The slide closes over the top of it. It also makes for a flat surface since I set the table even with the ottomans. It makes for more possibilities like re-doing the cushions to make a bed that does not have small pieces that don't want to stay put.

See my mods for pictures and descriptions.
