Calendar Event: Rdome wanted, for 182g, any advice? Posted: 10 Nov 2020 at 12:40am |
I have a 182g and the we use the rdome everytime we camp. Been using it for 4 years now. It can be a pain at times. But for the most part I can set it up and taken down on my own. familytentcamping.com has two tents for the 182g, they have a side tent similar to the rdome and they also have a rear tent for the garage. I am thinking of getting the rear tent so we have a covered outdoor cooking area as well.

For what it's worth the dealer I bought my 182g from lost the Dome, so they gave me a credit to buy a canopy. I went with a straight leg Euromax, and that thing is really nice. We are thinking of buying another one, and maybe adding a camping cube to it.

I hope I find one, The one that fits my 182g might be discontinued, so fingers crossed!
And my daughter’s teen friend group will definitely overfill the rpod, I think the rdome will be key to keep her camping with me 🙃. I have hope someone may not be as into it and would like a sale...
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

"Giving one a try" is something because they are expensive but I LOVE mine. There is a learning curve to being able to set it up reasonable quickly (and I have a $75 little pop-up for one or two night stays or when I'm by myself, but it really does add a room to your pod. I have the small 172 and an occasional travel companion and there's nothing like being able to send him outside!

Thank you, That looks sweet,,, though I don’t know...
My friends and I are all tent campers and I’m bringing the rpod on our next group trip. I was thinking of the rdome like a guest room since we can’t all fit.
I’d love to give the dome a try...

Are you really sure you want one? Many of us find them to be a big pain. I used mine twice, that was it for me.
Consider getting a pop up tent instead, like one these. Multiple sizes to choose from, Much easier to put up/take down. Locate them wherever you want, even down on the beach or by the lake. Better bug protection. Less likelihood of wind damage because you can just drop them flat is a few seconds if a storm is coming. Lighter and less expensive too....
