Meter indicates full propane tank. Turned gas on at the tank. Turned both stove burner knobs on. Smelled a little gas but neither burner will light with a hand-held igniter. What am I doing wrong? Never used this thing before.Confused

Feel for yourself how heavy the propane tank is, meters for those are notoriously inaccurate.  Turn valve totally off and s l o w l y turn back on again, then try to light as you did previously.  Even after changing tanks stove on my 177 will light within 20 seconds after turning valve on to light.  Please keep us posted.

Something to check EVERY time you open your propane tank is to listen for a "click" or "ping" sound.  If that happens, it means the protection valve inside tripped.  This can happen if your propane lines are empty, after changing tanks etc.

Just close it again, and slowly open it a few times until it opens without tripping the safety.  Some tanks are more sensitive than others...I have one that does it every time...and one that almost never does it.

Also, sometimes it can take a while for all the air to get out and for the gas to come to the burner.

+1. If you haven't used the stove and the lines are full of air it can take longer than you think to clear them and get a steady propane flow to the stove. Do it safely, if you get a strong propane odor but no ignition shut the burners off and allow the trailer to ventilate before trying again. Leave the door open, propane is heavier than air so settles to the floor.

An empty 5 goal propane tank weighs about 16 lbs.  A full one weighs about 32 or so., sometimes 36, depending on who filled it.  I write with a sharpie the full and tare weight on the tank.

Filet mignon, medium rare over a charcoal grill and lots of mushrooms pan fried with butter.  Be right over!
