Topic: New Rpod 192 Owners Posted: 27 Mar 2020 at 5:59pm |
Hello All, We are first time camper owners and so excited for warmer weather! We just brought it home yesterday, right before our mandated stay at home for the next two weeks. Driveway camping for now to test it out. The plan is to spend 2 -3 months next winter in warmer climates. We planned a few upgrades to do, like the bath faucet and a shower surround, which this model doesn't come with and I'm sure practicing how to back this thing up! Stay safe everyone!

Thanks! Have been reading posts and learning a lot. Shopping for a backup camera, that should help.

One good rule for learning trailer backing is try to always have a second person, and have them stand so they can see you in the side mirror. And standardize hand signals. Since the kids are out of school for a while, the high school parking lot is a good place to learn. IMHO there is no excuse for a backing accident if there are two people in the TV. Don't rely on the camera until u can do it without. Two way radios are of minimal benefit since " come right" or "keep coming" have no reference point.

Welcome and congrats on your 192. I am a 195 owner and I am very happy with it. It has so much storage, and it's very roomy. I must admit, I really like the 192 floorplan. I haven't gone to see it in person, because i'm afraid i'll like it...... a lot, lol. I wonder if they will change a few things that I would like to see. I would like the slide out, just like the 195/196 have. Not sure why it doesn't have it. Also little things, like the shower surround. Over all, I think You're gonna love it.
Btw, I have the furrion back up camera, and it works great. Quite frankly I use it more for seeing behind me when towing. It's better than mirrors when making lane changes, or just seeing what's going on behind you. I considered getting the side cams, but I don't think I need them.

Thanks John for the information. It will be the two of us when traveling. We just need to get on the same page as which way is left or right! Our hand signals need work as they are not the most helpful.

Thank you mjlrpod! We looked at the 195 and liked it too but we were trying to keep the trailer weight as low and the 192 has all we were looking for, even a full queen size bed. We will research the camera and thought the same thing about seeing what/who is behind us. Our side mirrors worked out great. Where and how did you mount your camera on the back?

I didn't actually mount it. I had it added at pick up. It is located just above the center rear running light. It is wired to the running lights, so the camera only works when we are towing and the running lights are on. It was a pretty easy install as I watched them do it. Like I said, camera works great.

Ours is attached to the license plate and I wired it to always be on by connecting it to the lights of the tow vehicle.
