I'm on the third  year with the 179 and this is the first major issue I have had.  We cooled the fridge on shore power before we left.  We normally travel with the fridge on propane but this time it would not light.  I could light the stove so I knew there was propane in the system.  The Pod had been covered while in storage so there wasn't spider webs, etc. but It would not light. We knew we would have shore power available for the first 10 nights of the trip so we decided to run the fridge on battery while traveling (there is enough power from the truck to do this) and then switch to shore power for overnight.

At our first stop in Gallup, NM we found a repairman who came to our site and got the fridge to work on propane.  It turned out that the igniter was grounded out because the screw had loosened.  Grounded igniter mean no spark. No spark means no flame. and no flame, etc. The repair took about 45 minutes.  I paidin cash for a discount but I am a happy camper now.  So is the wife.

Headed to Oregon for a rally at Cannon Beach and a factory tour in Sheridan.
Enjoy Life!!

Glad you were able to get it fixed easily. That would not have been obvious. Given it took him about 45 minutes, it must have been hard to find the problem. At least you did not have to order expensive parts.

Good to know....You could benefit the pod community by posting the name of the company or the repairman...it can be hard to find good mechanical help in Gallup sometimes...thanks for the report and travel safe!

I tried to use my propane for the fridge.  Had battery and gas on.  Ignited and went out.  Gas says over 3/4 full. Everything else works on gas.  Leaving for Oregon in less than a week, so cooler may just have to be it! I don't know what else to try, except a repair person...1 1/2 hrs away.

Sounds like you may have spider webs/debris in the combustion chamber area.  Maybe try a little air (if you have a compressor) and blow out or purchase a bottle of compressed air used for cleaning computer fans/keyboards.  I had this happen to me a few years ago and after blowing out all the junk installed screens over the 2 air outlets that are located on the exterior of the 177 behind the refer.  Never had an issue since.
