Last week we spent a few days in our Rpod 180 at American Forks camp ground located at the forks of the American and Bumping Rivers on Chinook Pass in Central Washington State. I started a 31 year career working for the US Forest Service in 1968 and lived at the American River Guard station for 3 summers.
Besides getting up early for my morning walks around the areas near the camp ground we took a day trip to the summit of Chinook pass to hike a section of the pacific Crest trail (PCT).
There is no water available at this camp ground so we filled the fresh water tank from a pitcher pump at the Mather Memorial Parkway rest stop 4 miles from the camp ground.
