Purchasing a new RPOD from Couch RVNation.

Strongly considering paying $1400 for dealer Xzilon application.

Any thoughts regarding whether or not the Xzilon is worth it?

Thanks in advance.

Depending on what your time is worth, you could put it on yourself for a fraction of that cost. Also consider that the finish on an R-pod is not paint, but a gel coat.

Further information here.

Thanks much for the reply!

Please explain, if you don’t mind, significance of your comment about gel coat versus paint to this non-handyman who will likely be using training wheels for awhile!

Unfortunately this scam has been around for years. If you read the additional info GluGuy included, note self application did not receive high reviews. Most of us toil washing and waxing our own RVs, as well as boats and vehicles. I remember years back car dealers offered this same "protectant" at an equally exorbitant cost. I thought we had moved on from these offers, but evidently not. Don't do it.

+1 to Mike Carter.  Your Pod has gelcoat.  Go to a marine supply and buy a good quality wax and you'll get all you can really expect.  It would take a lot of hours to justify spending $1400 for the dealer to apply the coating.  And you're still going to have to wash your Pod from time to time anyway.  If you waxed it once a year it would take about 2 or 3 hours, if you used a buffer.  If you keep your pod for 10 years, you'll have maybe 30 hours of waxing time, if you can't get one of your kids to do it.

For an additional $1400 you can buy all kinds of accessories for your Pod, and you will anyway.

Moto 7  True CoatApprove pretty funny.  Anyway our 177 is going on year 9 and the finish is almost as good now as when we picked it up in March of 2011.  Our xzylon equivalent, actually mucho better for a lot less peso's is MeGuiar's ultimate liquid wax, leaves a the gel coat finish as smooth as a baby's butt.  For the decals we use Protect All.  The Protect All we use 1x/year, the MeGuair's usually just once/year but a few times we have gone twice if we get into a heavily wooded area where we receive a lot of tree sap on the roof.

+1 to Motor7. I love that movie....

Is he (or she) in sales? Is his (or her) mouth moving?

If yes to both, then he (or she) is lying....
