Calendar Event: BAL leveler Posted: 14 Dec 2018 at 8:10am |
I've placed this on the facebook page as well. But in case someone isn't on there. I'm on my 2nd BAL leveler.. (don't ask)...this one seems a bit stiffer than my first one when trying to raise or lower it with the rachet wrench they sent with it. Do any of you use a drill to raise or lower? And also do any of you put any lubricant on the trunion? Thanks in advance all.

I never bothered with using a drill.. but I lubed the trunion, and the thread.. I found the good old PTFE spray made the thing way easier to raise. I also, always, used a lego under the tire. If you get some settling of the BAL, it can be difficult to get out otherwise.

I found that a cordless drill didn't work very well. The back-torque was so bad that I thought I'd break my wrist. I then tried an impact wrench and promptly stripped the screw on the BAL. I abandoned it after that.

I think if it takes that much torque that something is wrong with something.

Furpod what is PTFE spray? Something like WD40, or a silicon spray?

I use CRC, but WD40 Specialist does make a PTFE spray.

White lithium grease spray also works, but is a bit more messy if you come into contact with it.

It's possible that I got an out-of-tolerance unit I suppose. However, the Andersen leveler has worked well as a replacement. |

We use the Andersen leveler too. Easy to use and light weight.
