Hello all. My wife and I recently picked up a very lightly used 179 from a dealership. We have been considering a travel trailer for several years now. For our tenth anniversary we tent camped in the Smokies. We were kind of bummed that we could not bring our old pup because many of the trails we planned to hike did not allow dogs and leaving him in the tent is obviously a bad idea. Here are a few pictures: I have been gobbling up all the info I can on youtube and other google searches. It is rough having a new camper and not being able to use it. The weather turned the day after we got it home. |

Welcome and congratulations! We also have a 179, but ours is a little older than yours (from the changes I see such as the antenna near the door instead of above the entertainment center). I have done a number of modifications to ours which you can see by clicking on the mods link in my signature. I'm sorry you did not get to camp in it before the weather turned, but come spring, you will have had time to do some mods (if you want to, that is) and get things packed to go. I hope you have many fun adventures and make many great memories in the process.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your new to you 179, looks great! Now you can have a place to leave the pup when you go hiking. Our dog travels everywhere with us and the only problem we have with her is she is a total bed hog!

It looks like the weather is clearing off for this weekend so we may just be able to get it out for a night.

Many owners of RV's get them so the pups can go. While I was happy to get off the ground and out of a tent, (and gain indoor plumbing and a/c) we did it for exactly that reason..
Note:.. It could be the way the camper is sitting in that spot, but when you get a chance, look at the trailer/truck combo hooked up, on level flat ground, and make sure you are not tongue high. You want to be level, to a bit tongue low, for stability. Your 4Runner looks to maybe lifted, and that almost always brings about the need for a drop hitch.. |

It does set about 3/4" higher than stock. I will get it out on some flat and paved AMD get so i'm e more shots. I would not be at all suprised if it is a bit high in the front.
