Has anyone lifted the frame off the axle and put larger diameter tires to get better ground clearance? I have a new 190 and my driveway is such that the grade doesn't allow me to back the trailer up without scraping.  Even if I remove the spare tire rack and the stabilizer jacks it would scrape by a few inches. I think a 4" total lift would work, plus give me better clearance overall.

All the Hood River Edition R-pods have a 2 or 3 inch lift. The later models do this by "clocking" the torsion axles. Earlier versionsput a 2x2 steel block between the axle and the frame.

I wonder how hard it would be to "clock" the existing axle.  Has anyone done it?

I added the lift kit.  Adds 3.5” I think.

Coffee guy

It is a 2015 182g.  Got the kit from my dealer.  $140 I think.  I think you can order direct from forest river as well.

I think it would be next to impossible to "clock" the existing axle. The brackets are welded on. Cutting them off and re-welding to change the angle and then re-welding would likely do too much damage to the rubber components. The only options are to add a lift kit and if that is not enough, buy a new axle with a different angle.

Thanks StephenH.  I already put risers on a couple years ago.  They made a big difference getting into the driveway.

But ever thinking of new adventures, I thought it would be exciting to make a run down the Baja California peninsula following the race route, but with our pod and my truck.  I don't think I'd enter the race though.  Seriously, it would be nice to have that much more clearance for Forest Service roads.  I always worry about banging the axle on a rock or something.
