I will be picking up my new 2019 Rpod 180, Hood River Edition in Portland, OR in mid-December.  Happy to see a community out here.

Dealer is recommending additional purchase of a sway bar.  I'm "graduating" from a teardrop trailer so didn't need one before.  Those of you out there, give me advice on whether or not I need one...and also do you have other advice on things to pick up from the dealership since I will be getting a shop discount when I pick up.

They are throwing in a 2nd battery, FYI.

Thanks!

What is your tow vehicle ?
Other items:  depends on your plan.  Boondock or not?
Maybe a dual propane setup.

We picked our 180 up last June.  Love it!

Things we purchased from the dealer.
50 amp to 30 amp adapter so we can plug it in at home.
Two 10 foot sewer hoses.  Have only needed one on our trips so far.
We didn't get the sewer line support but bought one after our first trip.  Its a pain to dump without one most places.
90 degree clear sewer hose adapter.
Fresh water blow out plug.  Adapts the garden hose fitting on the trailer to an air compressor for winterizing.
We bought both a 50 foot and 25 foot potable water hoses.  Have only needed the 25 foot at campgrounds so far but need both to fill at home.

We did not get a sway bar.  We didn't have any sway problems but had the dealer install a weight distribution hitch after our first trip.  We travel back roads a lot and it helps a lot to control the bouncing on rough roads.

Assuming they are "throwing in" a second group 24 twelve volt battery, I suggest you ask them for credit on the their batteries and give you two GC2 six volt golf cart batteries instead. Wired in series (12V) the two golfers will give you considerably more capacity than the two GC24s. Now is the time to make that swap since you should be able to get the credit for their batteries.

Consider getting a weight distribution hitch (WDH).  Do a search and you'll see a lot of discussion that will help you make a decision.

I agree with CharlieM, try to get a couple of 6v golf cart batteries.

Welcome to the group.

Use the search function on the forum and you will find a lot has been written about sway control and weight distribution set ups.

Addition to information on search. Choose the Advanced Search function. Then you will see an option for how far back to search. The default is six months. For better results, increase the range to Any Date. Otherwise, you will only see what has been posted in the last six months.

I would not be too concerned about the dealer discount.  I found that Amazon was still much cheaper than purchasing items from the dealer. even with their discount (our was 10%).   And I had a better selection buying online than the few brands that the dealer carried.  The only exception is if you are not handy and  need to have dealer install the items for you.  E.g.  WDH with anti-sway, brake controller in tow vehicle, towing harness, electrical and surge protection, etc.  Take your time and research these boards as there are many lists of must have and nice to have items.  Have fun, you will love 180 model

The type of tow vehicle you have is important to know before making a decision about weight distribution setup, anti sway setup, and also things like dual batteries and dual propane tanks. Those latter add ons add a significant amount of tongue weight which can put you over the max on some of the mid sized suv's and pickups towing the bigger ropds.
