My 2 cents and top 10:
1. sustained pressure checks to insure no leaks
2. Quality mattresses (they all get replaced or just don’t include so buyers can get what they want or dealer can provide low med and best choices)$100-$300
3.  Pay a guy for 15 minutes extra to vacuum as they are assembled.  Ill pay for that for sure.$15
4. Better sewer suspension for sure. $15
5. Quality tires.  Adds maybe $100 to purchase price
6. Engineer the valances much better. $20
7. No more 182gs?  My favorite!
8. Bath floor support.  Spend $50 please
9. Electronic cooktop ignition.  $15
10. Factory installed inverter, say 300 watt.  $100

So I have added around $500 in cost and say labor of $500.  $1000 add and 20% g/m adds $1200 to the price but a much better product and much happier campers.Hug

Sorry if I am getting off the subject but when I was younger I bought a Hunter 25 foot sailboat kit. It was a fiberglass haul that included the majority of the parts that you installed yourself. Perhaps a r-pod body and one would complete the interior like a r-pod kit. That way everything could be completed to ones standards and have fun at the same time.

Skilled labor seems to be the main issue and the speed that camping trailers are built. If one could do the labor them selves at their time to make sure things are constructed properly and one could have more freedom to make changes to the floor plan. Maybe in doing this a factory could do a extra good job in building the walls and putting that part together on a trailer frame. Does anyone know if a company has tried this?

Add training for the caulkers.....mine is quite messy in places.  And don't forget a better spoiler (that doesn't have the potential for leaking).

I tried that, FR will not just sell a shell to you.
If you want something done right, do it yourself.

Opps! on my previous post!

+1 texman on allot of your list.

The one thing above all I would like FR to do is QUALITY CONTROL! There is NO excuse at the R-Pod price point that such shoddy things like molding that is to short, lack of or slipshod caulking, should ever leave the factory and it shouldn’t cost the consumer one more dime! I’ll also agree with texman on they need to shore up the bath shower floors which would be a very minimal or no additional expense.  I’d gladly pay a few extra dollars for FR to trash the WFCO converter and install a quality converter such as one by Progressive Dynamics. That improvement could be a selling point for FR on the R-Pod. If they are going to keep the under the kitchen counter sink then I’d pay extra for a quality counter and sink. I’d also pay a few dollars more for some decent water fixtures in the bathroom and kitchen sink.

One of the reasons I bought a R-Pod was after looking at comparable campers like the Jayco Hummingbird it looked to me that FR used better material and construction but now I’m beginning to wonder if this is true? It would be interesting to me to talk to other owners of similar campers how they would stack up in quality and repair issues to the R-Pod. I like my R-Pod, like it allot, despite its many faults I’ve had to deal with but I’m not married to it. So, I do wonder how it’s going to perform in the long term? I do know either FR “up’s it game” in material and quality control or they will be loosing market share to competitors marketing similar campers.

Forest River has already made a large increase in quality by switching to Azdell for the walls instead of Lauan plywood. It does not absorb water so there should no longer be issues with the sidewalls delaminating. Unfortunately, that isn't retroactive.
