StephenH, I agree, the 179 is better for us as well. The extra space from the slide sold us.

I looked at the boondock version of the TAB400 and wasn't impressed by the equipment selection. While the ducted aircon in them is quieter than our roof units and doesn't take up roof space, it is still very inefficient. They still use AGM lead acid batteries, for those $ it should have Lithium Ion. Inverter is too small at 1200 watts to run either the air conditioner or the microwave reliably so I'm not sure what its there for, and the whole roof is curved which means they have to use "flexible" solar modules, which I would never choose. Better and much cheaper to get an rPod and then outfit it as you want.

Looks cool though.

I looked at the pictures and floor plan and thought that while nice, it is not for us. I prefer the layout of our RP179.

Might end up needing to find a new pod dealer for service.
I watched a 30 minute video of the Tab 400 camper from Princess RV that camper is the BMW of campers and comes with a BMW price. Very nice camper I liked the bathroom with the folding sink.

We bought ours an hour away and they provide any service we need. Excellent dealer that I would buy from again in a heartbeat.

30 miles to an authorized warranty repair independent business which takes about 45 minutes to an hour or more to reach depending on time of day and traffic. 114 miles or about 2 hours driving time to the dealer where we purchased our RP179. Since ours is out of warranty, I will look for even closer options. I have fixed a number of things as well as made modifications myself since the cost in time and gas to tow to a repair place mean that simple repairs would cost more to get done under warranty than the cost to do it myself which is a moot point now.

If you decide to come to Huntsville another option is Andy's RV Service (256-355-2090). He is right off I-65 as you go over the Tn. River. They are an independent repair facility and do not sell RV's. He is a FR authorized warranty repair center. I have bought a lot of parts from them and they have serviced my Pod under warranty on one occasion. Service was good they repaired a few things. In my case I was told a date to bring the Pod in so it doesn't sit on the lot. So far people are easy to deal with and you can talk direct with the repair tech if needed about your issues.

When we had it, it was 38 miles each way to our dealership. No to bad.

I'm on the other end of the spectrum.  We bought our R-pod from a dealer five miles from our house.  Any warranty or other work they make me an appointment within a week and do the work while I wait.

When needed, I have to travel over 80 miles.  The place I purchased our RPod won't do warranty work!
