[QUOTE=furpod]Just a note, now that battery cases are made of plastic, you no longer have to worry about setting them on concrete..
+2, +3 +4, +5  Yeppir, Furpod is 100% correct AGAIN.  We have put our 2 12volt group size 24 batteries from our 177 on our CONCRETE floor inside our UNHEATED garage since November 2011, during the winter months, with no ill effects.  All I do is trickle charge each at 2 amps for a day or until fully charged in November and check the water levels and add distilled water if any cells are low.  They then sit there, all lonely while the winter winds blow, the snow flies and the temps get well below 0.  Then, the following spring in April I do the same thing, trickle charge each for a day or two, check water levels and put back in the pod as soon as the snow melts so I can get the pod out of the horse barn out on the back 20 acres.

Darn it, batteries and concrete are ok now that battery cases aren't made of wood? another urban legend bites the dust LOL. If we keep exploding all these myths nothing will be any fun anymore.

When furpod says battery cases are [lastic he is referring to the one that the plates and acid are in from the factory, not the case on the front of the Pod.  Batteries and concrete have not reacted for a number of years.

It is a brand new detector and the battery is critically low, so I am assuming that's what it is I am going to put a charge on the battery and add a disconnect to my pod. I am planning on removing my battery when I do the final winterization, and keep it on a tender. Do not place your battery on a concrete floor, place it up on a block of wood to get it up off the floor.

I remove my battery for winter. I put it on a trickle charge every month. I figure it's not needed in the winter, but I can keep it charged up, and I also keep it from being out in zero degree weather. It might be ok to keep it outside in zero degree weather, but it's probably better to keep it in in the cellar that never gets down to freezing.

My brand new 189 LP monitor started beeping too, sitting in my driveway, no shore power.

Turns it out was warning of low battery, which drained it of course even faster.

LP alarm is down by the floor, by the bath-- at least it is on my 2013 model 177.  It doesn't have a replaceable  battery as do the two other alarms on the ceiling, the smoke and carbon monoxide one's.  Those both have the 9 volt batteries.
The LP alarm runs off of your camper battery and wears out after about five years and you need to pull it off and replace it with a new one, if this is what you are experiencing.  There is no battery inside to replace, just the full hot wired  unit.  It has colored red green light codes to tell you what's going on with it, and reset buttons that will kill the warning for awhile.  Reference the owner's manual for the specific brand of device.  I just bought a new one last month off of Amazon for $58 bucks.  It seems that they are only good for 4-5 yrs. before they fail.  Or it could be that your camper trailer battery is dead.

I am going to add a disconnect to the unit before I winterize it.
