Anybody having weather related water leaks? Do R Pod roofs need any special maintenance? We are about to purchase a new 179. Bring on any and all comments please!

19/189, all my outside basement doors leak when it rains. I keep rolled towels in the compartments until I can get it in for warranty work.

Awchief,

My storage doors leaked too, until I tightened all the securing latches.

Thank you, that is not the case with my doors. The hinges are rivited in crooked on all three. The hinges are going to have to be drilled out and reset. The dealership is awaiting guidance from FR.

We just camped a long weekend where it rained constantly late Friday night through Monday morning in SW PA from the latest gulf hurricane leftovers,to the sum of 8 to 10 inches (I didn't hear the exact amount or the area we were in) and didn't suffer a single leak. A lot of condensation due to not being able to open a window or the roof vent yes....but no leaks.

Not any concern on the 179 but if you buy a model with a kitchen slide take off the lower face panel and the panel hiding the sink drain and water lines (just a few screws)move the slide in and out and see if your water, drain, and propane lines have enough slack in both positions . I had to extend my hot water line.

Leaks I think are very rare with a r-pod you don't hear of them very often. That is the big advantage of a fiberglass roof, though you still need to make sure the openings through the roof for vents etc, are sealed. Our Vibe has a fiberglass roof like the r-pods and around all the vents, antenna and sky light I sealed with Eternabond tape. I have been very busy and finally got around to washing our campers roof after over two years not being washed. After washing with a RV soap it looked new and the tape was just the way it looked when I first put it on. There is no sign of any detaching of tape from the fiberglass. The roof is almost maintenance free except for washing with soap and water. With the windows make sure they are shut tight I have made the mistake of not sliding the widow tightly closed and water leaking through. And like has been mentioned you may need to adjust latch for the storage compartment doors so that they latch tight.
