I am but my wife wants to do New Mexico and Utah in April and May and I’m pretty sure I can’t afford both. How about you?

Perhaps this is what 'private messaging' was designed for??

All of this OBX talk is making me eager to head east.   Been exactly a year since we were in Rodanthe at Ocean Waves CG.   Not sure if we'll get back this year.  Never stayed at Frisco CG but have driven through there and have always wanted to spend some time there.  I  know that part of the beach is open to vehicles....how bad is it to sit on the beach...with the vehicles driving by?

I love it!! Been to Frisco, Cape Point and Oregon Inlet CG's they are really nice and well set up!Our favorite is the KOA in Rodanthe, they have a great pool/hot tub area.
Only get a few vehicle going by there.
Looking forward to getting the beach permit and trying to fish the point!
Went to check out Ocean wave atwo years ago and met a woman fro a few towns south of here that was working there for the winter.

As for enjoying sitting on the beach, I always do my very best to avoid the OBX between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and that can make a big difference.  West of Cape Point I've never seen it too bad at all.  Even there on holiday weekends when the vehicles are parked wall to wall if you're on the beach side of the parked trucks it's okay.  Ducking under fishing lines is the big issue.

All, we're perhaps well off topic here but regarding ORV beach access areas and closed areas in CHNS, there are always areas which are closed to vehicles. In fact, much more of the beach is closed to vehicles in summer than winter so no reason to avoid visiting us in summer.  See below.

vehicles.https://www.nps.gov/caha/planyourvisit/maps.htm

In addition to this there are local closures for sea turtle nests and birds nest sites that come and go.

Living in Hatteras Village and not being a beach driver (not only do I not like sitting next to cars on the beach but driving on the beach destroys vehicles in short order), we usually go to the beach access point opposite the maritime museum. From there east is restricted in summer.

If you're at the Frisco CHNS campground, the beach directly in front of you is open to vehicles all year but just to the west is closed to vehicles in the summer. Or you can park at the Frisco parking lot and go east from there.

And, if you want as much privacy as possible, if you park in the airstrip parking lot and walk across the end of the runway (do check for aircraft first please, you usually won't hear them when landing) there is a path that leads to probably the least busy beach in the area.

Hope y'all come and enjoy your stay but keep an eye on the tropical Atlantic, its really heating up now (pun intended).
