That wattage would make current draw 14.5 amps on 12 volt. I have a F150 with 130 amp alternator. Does the trailer connector provide that much current?

Thx

about 12A at 12v.

The point is don't spend so much time worrying about all the things that could theoretically go wrong.  Go out and have some fun and if you catch fire and die along the way, at least you were doing what you liked to do.  It beats death in a rest home connected to a feeding tube.

I agree completely!! I travel with my fridge running on propane but shut it down when gassing up if the trailer is going to be next to a gas pump. (If the trailer is out in the open away from the pumps I let it run.)

My Tacoma will charge the battery on the trailer while driving but apparently not if the fridge is running on 12 volt.
On our last drive coming home from our recent trip to Oregon I switched the fridge over to 12 volt during our last gas stop. Three hours later when we arrived home I checked the battery and it was at 2/3rds power.

I’m glad I have the option to run the fridge on 12 volt, especially if the propane tank ran out while on the road.

All the talk here about the possibility of RV danger on the road makes me think the best prevention is continued maintenance and diligence in pre-trip inspections.

It seems that most if not all of the RV fires I have seen on the road happened to affect older, poorly maintained shop-
worn rigs. Hence the term, ‘Fire Trap’.

But again, I think that people should do what they feel most comfortable doing. Don’t stress on it but be aware what can happen.

Exactly! And FWIW I don't see this topic discussion as an argument. Or if it is one, it's certainly not a "bad" argument. I'm appreciating the various points of view, and no one is bullying or name-calling (in which case I'd just ignore them anyway but that doesn't happen here).

Agreed!  I don't see it as an argument.  I see it as a discussion with different points of view that illustrate various points.  I would say that there is no one right answer for everyone.  What's right for me might not be right for some others.  Vive la difference!

I say mount one of these puppies to your Pod

and while your driving you can power your fridge without using a bit of propane or over stressing your TV alternator.  Can you imagine the energy you can generate while cruising along at 70 mph and the only loss will be a little more windage and a small drop in your mileage?  Heck, you can even drive up to 110 mph, the claimed survival wind speed for the generator.  And you only need a wind of 7 mph to generate electricity.

Hilarious! I would think the additional drag would decrease the MPG of your tow vehicle significantly.

"Not very well reviewed.. LOL" - furpod

I wasn't so much concerned with this particular generator, but the concept.  I just like the idea of a propeller spinning like crazy generating electricity as you cruise along the interstate.  And conceptually, it really goes with the shape of the Pod.  I don't know why FR doesn't offer it as an option.

And when you camp in hurricane and tornado country, think of your output during a storm.  Of course, when the wind gets too high, like all wind turbines, it'll shut down, but in the mean time you could run an electric welder.  Even in regular camping in places like Nebraska, you could meet all your power needs with electrons to spare just in the regular wind.

Leo, sometimes you just have to be rebellious, unless, like me you're married to a Paisa, then you don't risk it. Big smile
