Fellow Podders,

I am looking for photos of how my fellow Podders take their bikes with them when camping. I am putting together a video that speaks to the options of various ways to bring bikes when camping and would like to include several set-ups I don't currently have photos for:

1. Hitch and bike rack on the front of the Tow Vehicle
2. Bike(s) on top of tow vehicle (rails/rack on roof)
3. Bike(s) above truck bed (rails and rack above bed cover)
4. Bike(s) inside the Tow Vehicle or in truck bed
5. Bike(s) on hitch extender near tailgate
6. Bike(s) on riser and bike rack on A-Frame (above propane tank and battery)
7. Bike(s) inside trailer (tied down inside R-Pod)

I already have pics of bikes on back of my R-Pod on the hitch where the spare tire goes.

If you are so inclined, and would be willing to allow me to use the photo in an upcoming video, please Private Message me and I'll get you my email. I can't promise I'll use every photo I get, but any help is appreciated.

We got a 2 bike rack that fits into the 1 1/4" receiver that holds the spare.  I tried mounting the spare on the tongue but found that in backing the truck comes in contact with the tire on a sharp turn.  So, rather than spend more money, I'm going to throw the spare in the back of the truck along with all the other stuff there, since there is plenty or room.  The bike rack and bikes weighs about the same as the spare, so the receiver should be fine.

We just got one of the Jack-it bike carriers, works great so far! Easy to install.

That's a pretty cool rack, Leo.  Is it sturdy enough to take what looks like quite a bit of leverage working on the welds?

We moved the spare  tire to the A frame so that we could carry our bikes on the rear. While at the welder’s shop, we had a 2” receiver added to the existing 1 ¼” receiver.  We also welded a new 2”x2” frame member going across the width of the pod  from side frame to side frame to anchor the back end of the 2” receiver with a piece of angle iron.   When we carry the bikes, we use 2 ratchet straps that go from the bike rack down to each corner of the frame for stability.  We also use a hitch tightner.  The combination of all of these modifications results in a very tight, completely stable bike rack.
