TMI - the Federal Highway Commission monitors design of highways and clearances. The minimum is 14' as detailed in Table 19. It covers multiple roadways and any issue has to be reported to DoD, the Military Surface Deployment Command and the Distribution Command. I recall an instance of traveling on a state highway from RI to NJ, a large sign directed all traffic over 9' to exit now. I did, and was correct the overpass would have taken the AC off my class C.
