The glass cover over the stove in our 180 is nice when it's closed so that it can be used for extra countertop space. But when it's open so the stove can be used, it's easy to bump it and have it close accidentally. Once it fell onto a boiling pot of water and caused a mess. Has anyone come up with a way to keep the glass stove cover securely in the open position? Ours will even fall if we aren't careful stepping on the stairs at the door.

They started that feature just after we got our RP-179. We thought it was nice, but that it would tend to interfere with actually using the stove. My inclination would be to remove it. I think a better solution is a removable cover or cutting board.

Just a thought: maybe try to modify it so that it leans back further. Falling because you are using the steps is way too sensitive, especially when cooking.

Good luck!

I don't use the stovetop very often, but I have had it fall once, onto the pan, which probably saved it from breaking. I didn't bother with a fix due to not using it since, but I think maybe I should take a look at this. On my glasstop I was having an issue with the two threaded connectors loosening. They would unscrew from the vibrations from towing. Twice I found the threaded section on the floor after towing the pod home. I put some of the blue (removable) loc-tite on it. Should eliminate another potential break situation before it happens.
