Could a person put a speed controller on the AC motor for the fan?  .......just thinking out loud!Smile

If it is a Dometic Penguin II unit like the one on mine, then the fan can run at two speeds. If FR changed to a different AC unit as well as the thermostat, then my experience won't help. What AC unit do you have? What thermostat model?

As with most R-Pod components, there is no owners manual for the AC in my 190.  I searched on line at the manufacturer's website where I can find the specs and install instructions for my unit, but no user manual.  I spoke with my dealer's Service Manager who told me that there is no owners manual for them either, and that true thermostat has nothing to do with it, other than setting the temp.  It runs on only one speed.
That's all there is to it-- it's a noisy p.o.s.

Okay. I looked on Forest River's web site at the virtual tour of the 190. It looks like you have a different thermostat than I do. Check out this YouTube video on how this new style works. It actually is similar to the older-style one I have. Do you have a model number for the thermostat? With that, you could look online for specific instructions.

All these will make it a bit quieter, but the constant low speed is the best.

I have a 190 as well. There is only one fan speed--yes,I called the dealer.  It's noisy no matter what.

Atwood Air Command units are supposed to be quieter with a bonus of being more efficient

For the furnace, set the fan to auto so the AC fan won't come on when the furnace turns on. Then get a small fan such as one from O2 Cool. Run that to both provide cover sounds and to help circulate the heat. That is what I do.

The air con is worse, but wait until it starts getting cold and you begin to use the furnace!  Most people get used to the noise eventually.  A smaller air con unit would probably help, as Furpod suggested, but I'm not sure what you can really do in a little box like an RPod.

I was afraid there wasn’t much we could do. I’ve been around tractors and airplanes almost all my life so I’m used to constant noise, but I would rather not try to sleep in them. Thanks anyway.

It's a small space, and your head is always pretty close to the outflow.. Hard to quiet down much. A few have switched to a smaller a/c unit, like the Cub 9.5.. cheaper then a whole new camper.. But any small camper with a non-ducted a/c is going to be loudish.. maybe my time on tanks has made me more tolerant of the noise.. to have a/c  Smile
