What is the recommended grease for 178 hubs. Tip...I went to Farmers supply and purchased an infer red (SP?) temp sensor. shoot the hubs every couple hundred miles. Running about 35 degrees above ambient.

Dexter recommends lithium-based grease. Their recommended brands is in their how to grease document (below). Some people use an infra red sensor to measure the temperature of their hubs. I generally just put my hand on the hub when we're stopping. It's OK for them to be a little warm, but they should not hot. If I think the hub is too hot to hold my hand on, then something is amiss. |

I use Lucas Red-n-Tacky on our 179's bearings. It meets the recommendations of our Lippert axle. It's readily available almost everywhere here in north Texas.

Many thanks. Now on to decision as to Carlisle tires. Lots of tread, no cracking, however they are (4) years old and we are heading out soon on 4000 mile vacation.

Many thanks. Been using the "touch" method, that works fine also.

I think tires are something that needs attention and inspection by various locales. I have had exposed tires in AZ and same in TN and they are effected different by sun and weather. I personally cover my tires in storage to keep them out of the elements. Four years doesn't seem outlandish to me, but you can expose tires for two years and they suffer.
