Any solutions to low hummidity in TT while camping in cold weather and running furnace at night? No electricity connection and generator use ends at 10:00 pm. Thoughts appreciated.

We always leave the roof vent in the head open a little so cold air can leak in. Never had a problem with too much steam building up. But then out west, we don't have the humidity some of you have. ....maybe a giant bag of silica gel??

+1 to furpod. We learned the hard way years ago about camping in the Rockies with temps in the mid to upper 30's and not opening any windows. Walls were soaked with humidity as well as the windows, even our bed was damp from the water running down the walls. Since then, do as furpod advises, open FF 1/4" and we will open 1 or 2 windows diagonally opposite each other a smidge; took care of the problem.

I am out west also, 2 hours NW of Phoenix. My problem is LOW humidity in rpod at night when running the furnace. Outside hummidity is in low 30%. I will try cracking open bathroom vent and a couple windows. Thanks!

If you have electricity, you could carry a small ultrasonic humidifier along and run that. I'm familiar with the low as single-digit humidity of Arizona having spent 7 years at Fort Huachuca. If you don't have electricity, just having a pan of water on the stove (heat, then turn off) will provide some humidity. You could put a pan of water near the heater and let the furnace's airflow help add humidity if you can put it where it won't be tripped over.

I am sorry.. I don't recall an owner needing to RAISE humidity levels.. I just assumed a typo..
Yeah, I would go with an ultrasonic humidifier as needed. This figuring you have elec. hook ups. If not, I suppose a damp towel and reservoir placed in front of the heater out put could help.. |

Opened bathroom vent and cracked open a couple windows last night and also did the boiling water. In addition, I did lower the furnace thermostat considerably so furnace would not run a lot. It was cold but humidity inside trailer was improved tremendously. Felt a lot better this morning compared to yesterday morning. Appreciate everyone’s input and help!
