Topic: Favorite activity? Posted: 18 Apr 2018 at 5:38pm |
I think the poll is now set to allow more than one vote - if you have several "favorite" activities.

Travel is good but the actual time spent on road is strenuous due to the inconsideration of other folks. The time spent with family and pets is my favorite, plus good food and a night well slept. +1 to LEO and fishing. I wish America would come up with a multi state fishing license.

I never really had the patience for fishing. I fished as late as my late teens, but I don't think I've picked up a pole since.
I voted for family quality time, both with my wife and our cats. It's fun watching the cats enjoying the change of scenery and their reactions to the goings-on outside. I like hiking, but don't get to do much because of my wife's medical problems; I don't like hiking alone.

Well.. I like food and time with my family, around the campfire, with a bourbon in my hand, after a long day of hiking or Mt Biking.. so.. I am torn on my vote..

I quit fishing in my teens. Took it back up at about 58 fishing on a farm pond with our small dogs, letting them run free and be dogs in the fields. Still can't catch fish but I love watching them run and play.
At the campground. Throwing the balls with the dogs, hiking the trails and the campfire.

David, Where is the dot to fill in for BACON? Or does that come under other? As furpod would agree, it is more than just food.

Kayaks, fishing exploring are going to take up a fair sized piece of the pie. As will sunrises and sunsets over water, sitting around a fire, cooking over a wood fire, boondocking where there is no discernible sign of civilization other than me and my R-pod.
A bit like cooking, some similar elements, some totally dissimilar, result is wholly dependent on how you put them together.
I got into fly tying this spring. (Well in truth lots of crappie and bluegill jigs) But I have this picture in my mind. Mid afternoon somewhere in the SE states. I'm sitting in a comfortable chair, I have a portable fly tying bench set up on a board that rests on the chair arms. I tie 2-6 items. And the next day go fish them. The day after that I am back in the chair. Changing, adapting, experimenting.
Not into trout, not into fly fishing. (Flogging the water, Bleah) I may be a complicated character, but I have simple tastes.
Hard to beat a nice FRESH bluegill or crappie going from the water to the pan in under an hour. Simply rolled in cornmeal after cleaning is fine with me.
Ok so I am making craft foam frogs and some really small "bugs" Bluegills will eat em I reckon.
