Hi All - We are new owners of a 2017 183G - been out 1 time but love it so far. We are planning an extended months-long excursion thru the US starting in July, so will be giving it a real workout. Just me and my wife - and our 11 year old Newfie!, so I think we should be good with room. We are pulling with a 2016 F150 with the extra tow package and am thinking I don't need any additional sway or tow control at this point. Love the forum and all the folks here.

welcome from a G owner on the other end of the state. The G model is great isnt it?  I have recently added sway and weight dist mainly from the STRONG winds in I40 in texas and new mexico.  I get passed a lot and the crosswinds are vicious coming off the semi trucks going 75-80.  if not for the winds, i dont think i really need it.  I can tell a difference since i added the lift kit to the pod and added 2 6 volt batteries to the tongue weight as well.  Just more peace of mind.

Thanks! I am definitely going with the 2 6v battery setup- which batteries did you go with? I am also thinking about the lift kit since we will be boon docking a lot along the way.

i got my batteries at batteries and bulbs. 215 amp hour each, model  SLIGC110
i would recommend the lift unless the 183g i higher than the 182g or you have a hood river edition which should come with it.  i did the lift myself, but you need an impact wrench and a floor jack for sure and somebody to help as well as jackstands.  Dealer can do it for you as well.

Congrats! There are a surprising number of R-Pod owners in Texas. I say "surprising" because people tend to like to go big in Texas.

There will be an R-Pod rally in Tyler in September, if you're interested.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum.  We have a 179 HRE.  We pull with a 2500 diesel pickup because that is what I had at the time and it works.  While I don't use a weight distributing hitch I do have a sway bar.  I would second Texman on the sway bar.  When you get west of Ozona, it seems the wind gusts are stronger.
Enjoy Life!!

Congratulations and welcome! We have a Midwest Edition 2016 RP179 which we have enjoyed thoroughly and to which I have made a number of modifications (link in signature). I hope you enjoy your 183G as much as we enjoy our 179 and have many great adventures, making many wonderful memories in the process.
