Just my 2cents ,somebodies signature line isn’t a discussion or statement and thus really isn’t violating the forum rules.
I agree with someone’s post a few back that to much regulation etc will force some of the member to leave. I too really like this forum and a lot of people in it, I find myself thinking what’s next somebody is offended by to many emoji’s or doesn’t like people with blues eyes etc.
Where will it stop.
Please let me know your decision and where the forum goes from here .

My take on this subject is, yawn, stretch, that 22 "yes" votes do not constitute a quorum or indicate need for change,  unless there are a lot less members here than I think there are.  The lack of interest on even voting is glaring, but it's always interesting to read the comments no matter the issue.
I'll bet a lot of the main posters read "Mad Magazine" like I did when younger.  I see much of the same sort of good fun humor.
Furpod has it figured out.  Laugh it off and move forward.

I agree and don't believe waiting a few more days is going to change anything. I too, do not see any clear mandate to change the existing rules to exempt the signature line from the "forbidden subject" matters.

99% of the people who come here follow the rules, enjoy the forum for what it is, and get on with their day. However, there is always that 1% who seem unwilling to do this. Hell, we even had one guy want to turn the forum into a dating service!

We are not going to step backwards and narrow the group of potential members by turning the forum into the "Evangelical, Protestant, Christian Rpod Owners Forum". Our "open arms" formula has worked well here for many years. The reason it does so is because we focus on our common interests and do not address matters that are proven to be of a divisive nature (and I might add, have nothing to do with Rpods or camping). Those need to be addressed someplace else, for the sake of the group as a whole.

Henryv - I will be addressing in the morning.

StephenH - I think if you were to drop "book, chapter, & verse" from you religious quote, it would be magically transformed into an inspirational writing, which would be in compliance. Most of us "of faith" know where those words come from anyway.

jato - yours needs an overhaul. Think "inspirational" instead of "religious". There's lots of good stuff in Proverbs, if I may suggest. As with Stephen, omit the book, chapter, verse for compliance.

Those are the 3 that I am aware of. I will deal with others, as/if I become aware.

Regarding the W.C. Fields quote - I see no violation of policy and thus, no need for the member to change. Under the rules, Admins may remove anything that we judge offensive, not specifically mentioned in the rules.   I am not offended. If you don't like the quote, may I suggest developing "coping skills". You will see things you don't like from time to time. It's a cruel world.

In closing, I suspect there may be one or two who will be sorely tempted to write hate mail and/or post snarky, smart ass remarks regarding my "Nazi like" censorship of weapons and religion. Do so at your own peril.

You joined a moderated forum that has published and established rules. These rules have not changed since the beginning. Deal with it. Love it or leave it. As far as I'm concerned, this matter is resolved.

Dave, I feel bad starting this off with a silly joke about the Pod goddess castigating those who don't use their Pods, but it is something that needed clarification.

Thanks for handling the situation in a fair and well considered manner.  This forum is for people of any and all faiths, beliefs, and points of view.  The only way that is going to be preserved is to keep out of religion, politics, and guns.

This is not the first, second, or even third time (even recently) that this sort of issue has come up. Sooner or later, we were going to have to do the distasteful job of confronting the issue. Some will like, some will not. I am angry at no one, other than myself. This should not have been allowed to fester. It should have been addressed from the "gitgo".

In addition to my above, let me add that this is absolutely NOT about forcing people to be "pc". It is about showing respect and compassion for others, who may not be "carbon copies" of ourselves.

Since "The Great Pod War", Rpod Owners has had a philosophy of "inclusion". It is hoped that it can be one of the few places in the universe where the Protestant, Catholic, Jew, Pod owner, non-Pod owner, etc. can for a few moments, sit at the same table, enjoy and edify each other, simply as one human being to another. We can do this when we leave our contentious matters "at the door".

Another point: Please do practice "self expression" in the signature area. However, it is a public area of the forum. I absolutely believe that most any reasonably mature and intelligent person can extrapolate that if one puts the effort into posting something there, it is because they WANT everyone to see and read it. It is for this reason that it needs to comply with the same standards as the rest of the forum. The 99% are able to "express themselves" without injecting "forbidden subject matters". So, it CAN be done, if one desires.
