No need for argument. Jesus speaks for himself. Thanks for everybody's comments, patience, and sense of humor. And especially expertise and helpfulness. I too have a good sense of humor, just not about deities. I understand and appreciate the gist of Lostagain's meaning that was well-intended.

+ whatever, this post went left and should never had. It's about trying to help people with a RPod related issues, thin skinned and people with agendas need not apply.

Thank you David for your insight into this "thin ice" area.  You have a very difficult task as being Administrator and I believe it is up to us all to give you 2 thumbs up, a word or two of thanks, or something else that would be an encouragement to you.

To the rest of you on this forum, please note that David has been The Administrator on this forum since December 2009, WOW, that is a long time, thank you for your selfless service so that this runs as smoothly as it does.  Between you and Doug (TechNTrek) I have seen you deal with some pretty thorny issues as well as individuals whom you have had the dubious duty to remove off the forum.  Thankfully that has been few and far between, keep up the great work!!!Thumbs Up

Yes, perhaps some thought should be given to the tag lines.  Personally, I think there is room for that sort of thing if kept discrete and non-proseletizing, even though I choose not to advertise my own beliefs in that form.

Note to henryv:  Please note that I used a lower case "g" in my post.  If I'm referring to God, I'll use a capital "G" as is the custom I follow when writing.  When referring to mythical, pretend, or fantasy gods, a lower case "g" is used.  So, in the future if I reference the weather god or the insurance goddess (the one who makes sure you have a car crash the day after you let your insurance coverage lapse), these are all pretend, not an expression of religious faith; a joke if you will.

I think Glue Guy is right that maybe it's best to signal a joke with an emoji, so as not to allow the statement to be taken literally.  The world of cyber communication does not like satire, ironic humor, double entendre, or plays on words. It's kind of like trying to translate some jokes that depend on the use of colloquial language into Russian (pick your language 😎)

It is, again, irony; being silly.  Sometimes me thinks people may be a tad too literal in cyberspace.  We need to relax and laugh at ourselves some times.
It's difficult to express feelings and/or emotions via a text interface. Hence emojis. Sometimes I feel like we need to enclose text inside a "joke" box, or "irony" box.

And/or perhaps doing it the old fashioned way.....giving each other the benefit of the doubt. I THINK that we are all friends here!?!?!?

I know, in the past, I have made tongue in cheek/humorous comments regarding the "camping gods"...sort of poking fun at the ancient Romans and Greeks, who seemed to have a god for every occasion. However, I am secure enough in my personal faith that I understand the absurdity of the humor.

SPEAKING AS AN ADMIN: One of these days, we, as a group, are going to need to deal with "matters of religion/faith". Like weapons, that is something we don't do here. Personally, I have let the religious "tag lines" in signatures slide. However, I probably shouldn't.

In allowing this, we "open the door" to things that may conflict with our own beliefs. If we wish to express our own religious beliefs then we must also be willing to accept that which is different. This is only fair.

The ice is thin on this.

Henryv, some times efforts at humor and irony are missed by some.  Of course there is no such thing as a Pod goddess.  And it's just plain silly to suggest there is; i.e. a joke.  So is saying that you you are being castigated for not going camping.  (Recall, you said you hadn't taken your Pod out camping for a year.)  Pods are a commercial enterprise of Forest River, not a deity.  To suggest otherwise is obviously absurd.

I am very sorry the effort at ironic humor escaped you.  There was no intention to offend on my part.

I was going to suggest you sacrifice a chicken to fix the problem, as I often recommend when I can't understand how computers work, or more aptly don't work.  Again, such a suggestion is patently and obviously absurd and would never really fix a computer.  It is, again, irony; being silly.  Sometimes me thinks people may be a tad too literal in cyberspace.  We need to relax and laugh at ourselves some times.
