Topic: Warranty Coverage (Worth It?) Posted: 06 Mar 2018 at 9:10am |
Hello,
My wife and I just bought a new rPod 176T. We're not sure on any extended coverage or maintenance warranties though. In your experience are they worth it?
Thanks,

Only the one year extended warranty that used to be offered by Forest River is worth it in my opinion. With all other warranties from private comapanies, they lose money when a claim is made, therefore they find every excuse in the book to not have to pay. Look through your papers that came in the plastic bag. There may be extended warranty offers for the heater and air conditioner and refrigerator from the manufacturer We got the one for the heater but felt the refrigerator and a/c were too expensive. Good luck and have fun in the RPOD

I have never been a warranty person and have never regretted that decision. From autos, to toys, to appliances I have never gone that route and through these 41 years of doing that I have never had a reason to say "If only I had purchased that warranty." . . . There are others who will disagree and others who have purchased said warranty and are happy they went that route. Our 177 is going on year 8 and I haven't had any real issues with it. Two years ago I did purchase a couple of new tires for it as they had 20,000 miles on them and even though the tread looked like the tires were nearly new, the expiration date told me I should have retired them a whole year earlier.

+1, I have never owned a RV with more than a 90 day warranty, had I had it supplied I would have used it. I very seldom have bought a new car and it always had issues after the warranty:) I always figured if I couldn't afford to fix it or own it, I couldn't afford it.

I bought the Forest River extended warranty, one year for $150.00 and used it for multiple minor issues in the second year. Well worth the $150.00 but, I wouldn't have paid any more.

I am typically not an extended warranty person. Yet my Dealership offered me a 5yr "Bumper to bumper" I did not pass up. The details/fine print was better than factory warranties. And no, it doesn't have be done by them. Yes, it does have to be done by a 'authorized' Forest River/appliance Dealer.
I say it all depends on cost. Of course I hope I never have to use it, but I do like the assurance when traveling.
Just another reason we choose Rpod. Build by a national outfit vs. the boutique trailers we looked at.

I will be getting my new Pod(176) in June and they offered warranty to me as well. 7 years, but it cost $2700 Canadian plus tax. I just cant justify that much extra. I have done so much research on light camper trailers, been to 3 camping shows already this year (The wife says I have a problem, haha). I have looked at the Winnebago mini drop, Jayco hummingbird and obviously the R-pod. The quality of interior and the craftsmanship of the entire R-pod is why |I chose it. there is a big difference with the trim, cabinets, counter top and edging. I bought the R-pob because of quality.
