When we took our 17'  179 in for service after owning it for one year we complained to the dealer about the mattress.  They submitted the complaint to Forrest River and they are replacing the mattress for a new one free of charge.   Likely it will be a similar mattress to the original one, but it is good to know that FR knows they have a problem with the some of the stuff they put in these campers and are willing to stand behind there product.

Good to know.  That being said, IF they replace that POJ mattress with a similar one, are you any further ahead in your own creature comfort?  This has been an issue even when we purchased our 177 back in January 2011.  After 3 trips (all weekend ones) we found ourselves rolling towards a big depression in the middle of the mattress.  We are not big people but the mattress was that bad.  Solution, Eurotop mattress, a bit pricey back then (summer 2011) around 350 bucks which included shipping yet here we are 6 plus years later and that mattress is just as firm and comfortable now as it was then and yes it gets used a lot IMHO.  We average 30 days/year camping.  Still working so that is our limit at this point in our lives.

If they haven't, click on the link below.  We got ours a year ago this month and love it.  We ended up with the 8 inch so that it was still manageable.  Some have opted for the 10 inch, but say its hard to move around if you need to get under the bed.  Spent 10 nights in a row on it last spring on a trip to Zions. Lots of weekend getaways.  Highly recommended.
Thanks
Jeff

+1 on the 8 inch. We got the 10 inch and it is hard to maneuver around and heavy to lift when I need to get under the bed to access the valves and storage (modified areas). An 8 inch would have been easier to work with.

When we got ours in 2011, we got the 8" thickness, no regrets and not a killer to lift up to access the 3 way valves.
