Cry I took possession of a Pod 172 in Feb. 2017.  Happen to be just after the North Jan. Feb. Snow and Ice Storm, thus on its way to South Carolina it was exposed to road salt.  Last week I got under the Pod to drain low water lines and found 1/4 of the undercarriage is rust. I think the other 3/4 doesn't have primer under the paint.  Ive ordered from Amazon 5 gal. of rust remover.  I really worried about the top of the frame where I can't get to. I only have 1 month left on the warranty and my past experiences have proven Forest River doesn't care about customers.  Any suggestions on redoing the metal.  Thanks in advance.
Happy Traveling,
Tom

I had the same problem. I went under and wire brushed what I could and then used Rustoleum Rust Reformer. After that dried, I top coated with black spray paint. I also could wish that the paint job on the undercarriage were done better. There were places that had no paint where the frame had been held up by wood blocks and painted. After the frame was removed from the blocks, there was no effort made to finish the job and paint the bare spots.

+2 - perform undercarriage inspection every year prior to first outing, touch up rust and any other issues I find on bottom.

Unfortunately Forest River has a good product, but they hire chimpanzees for the workmanship!

Quality control is a question of good management and comes from the top down.  If the boss insists on good workmanship, and allocates the time to do it, the quality of the product will follow.  The guys on the floor who have to meet production quotas or get fired are not the ones to blame.
