Thanks guys. I’ll do some r-dome practice this weekend.
Hubby bought a Jeep awning with a screen room that I can use for shorter shows.

As far as the awnings on RV's, driving around the USA, see how many trailers have there awnings mounted above the roof line, except R-pod and some of there clones. You talk about wind turbulence, think about the back of that mounting ! As for mine, when I leave the desert in April for Alaska and come back in October, it works out great for me on my daily travels, but when I stop for a week or two, out comes the R-Dome setup and do some fishing. Different strokes for different folks.

If you want to see a large number of RV's and there mods, come out to Quartzsite Arizona in January 2018. Over a million RVers and  there RV's all over the desert along with the Big Tent Show. You will blow your mind, always room to camp on the  BLM land.

Mr. Yoder,

My wife and I enjoyed your video and plan to be leaving for Quartzite the day after Christmas for the RTR January 11th.  Hope to see you and your rpod there.

Anybody use a little Home Depot screen room in shorter trips?

Here is a link to a video of me putting ours up. Personally, I think the awning is useless. The awning does one thing. The dome does that, and a lot more.

Video Link.

The most popular screen room by far is "the CLAM".

Many owners have either made, or had made, a awning sheet to just slide into the keder rail, and bought posts from a repair parts place, or from a old tent, etc.

Here is a link to a YouTube video from an r-pod owner who raised his dome rail and mounted an awning.  It looked like a lot of work to me and way over my skill level, but it just goes to show you can do almost any modification if you are determined or demented enough.

BUT, as I stated, he doesn't have any backer plates in the wall. So, yes, it can be done, but not properly or safely. Hopefully his awning won't ever catch the wind wrong and tear off the side. I know my way around pods, trust me.

It's agreed here, pretty much any mod CAN be done with enough money and effort. But for most, they wouldn't be worth it.

+1 to the Pahaque awning, I have one. If you want a color pick the Pahaque site sells them, bit more expensive.
