I'm looking into a different pod genny. I want a quieter model. I have a champion 4000 watt that is a little loud for camping. It runs at 68 Db @ 23 feet. I looked at the champion 3100 watt inverter that they advertise as 58 Db @ 23 feet. Upon looking deeper into the specs, I see that the Db level increases with the load. I saw a max of 65 Db listed. I almost made a mistake there. I'm looking at the honda EU3000is now. They claim it will not exceed 59Db even at max. They also say it will run a 13.5 BTU a/c unit, with power to spare. This thing is fairly expensive. 1800 bucks, does anyone have any good or bad opinions? Is there any draw backs that people discovered AFTER getting one?

I have been looking for something similar. After doing some research I understand it is preferable to purchase two Honda 2000i's with the capability to be linked to each other than purchasing one Honda 3000. You get more wattage, they are cheaper, they are easier to carry individually and if camping in the fall or spring when you don't require the air conditioning you need only one. I believe they are more quiet also.

Well THAT sounds like a good move, but, i dont understand about running parallel, i'll look that up. but my first thought is how can i hook this to my 30 amp on my pod?? can it be done?? "cheaply"
Ok, I'm seeing this to be the way to go. They sell some with 30 A plug as a companion. This was really helpful. Thanks |

Exactly what we did. We used to have a pair of Ryobi 1800/2200 generators run in parallel but my wife couldn't move them. With the Honda EU2000i generators, she can. They're a little quieter than the Ryobis too. We have one regular model and one Companion model; the Companion has 20A and 30A outputs whereas the regular only has two 15A outputs. Also, we have an external 6-gallon tank with dual feeds, one to each generator. The generators can run non-stop for at least a couple of days. http://www.genxdirect.com/b-e-r-g-s/bergs-i/ipi-bergs-2-extended-run-fuel-system-for-dual-generators-with-tank-part-ryb1-2200d/ |
