I cannot get AC power at camp ground although the power is clearly available where the power cord inserts into the trailer receptacle. HAs anyone seen thois problem before? When we intially set up the trailer we had normal power but later in the day the lights began blinking, the stereo locked up and several alarms went off and haven' t had power other than battery since.

"power is clearly available"... How do you know? You see sparks when you disconnect and connect? Please say "no".. "We always turn off the pedestal breaker before hooking up or unhooking..."

assuming you have power TO the Pod, the next thing to check is the breakers. Make sure they are not tripped, make sure they are seated fully, make sure the wires are all tight. (disconnect from the pedestal BEFORE doing anything more then flipping a breaker)

Check the GFCI outlet.

Lights are on the 12v side. So if you have battery, you should have lights.

In fact if you have 12v, the only things you shouldn't have is outlets, microwave, a/c, fridge and WH on 120v. Without knowing what Pod model you have, can't say what the stereo should be doing, but MOST are 12v. Some are 120v.

My first step would be to shut off power at the pedestal, then check connection at the trailer.  It is a twist lock plug, so make sure the connection is good, and the retaining ring is tight.  then set the breaker at the pedestal and try again.  If still no power then check the main breaker in the trailer by turning it off then back on.  If still no power I can't think of much yu can check without a meter.

I've seen campground pedestals that:
  • Have breaker switches in the 'off' position and need to be switched 'on'
  • With a worn 30a receptacle that will work if you put some perpendicular tension on the power cord (e.g. one or two wraps of cord around the pedestal)
  • Simply aren't working
But, I've never seen one that is working that wouldn't power my r-pod.

Of course, you may have accidentally flipped a breaker in your r-pod.  Have you tried turning all of them 'off' then 'on' again (note: sometimes when a breaker blows, it doesn't move enough to be clearly visible)

Other than that, its time to pull out your 15-to-30 amp adaptor and use one of the 15a sockets on the pedestal.

If you have a digital multimeter or a circuit tester, check the pedestal  outlet to make sure it has power. It could be the problem is not in the pedestal, but upstream from there.

After checking all of the above, if you still don't have power, see if you can hook up to another power pedestal.

Funny, you're cool. I reset mine today and TV and stereo worked, no fridge, microwave or AC, hope to hear back on this.
