Woke up this morning and found water running across camp site. I am hooked up to city water and water is leaking out of tank fill cap. I'm thinking that the there must be some kind of check valve to the water tank that is leaking.   Where is the check valve located?   Is there something I can do to get it working or does it just need to be replaced?

Shut off and disconnect city water, turn on pump and run water. their is a check valve which sometimes sticks especially if you have the pump and city water on at the same time. This should unstick the valve.

+1 to ronahue. There is a check valve in the water pump that should prevent the fresh water tank from filling when on city water. Mine sticks all the time. I have disassembled pump and can't find a cause. I should replace pump, just haven't done it. I do monitor FW tank when on city water to see if it is filling. BTW not much reason to run pump and city water. What you can do is shut off city water and use pump and FW tank until it is empty, cycling it should clear up check valve.

Furpod, have you ever had that problem.  I am a bit nervous about using that hookup (to city water) if the need ever arises because in the nearly 7 years we have owned our 177, that is one connection I have never made, so I suppose the chance of it sticking open and leaking would be pretty great?  We usually camp where there is no electricity or water hookups so we bring our own with us; always use the water pump.

I need to quit stalling and replace mine, it is a hassle when fresh water tank fills, need to remove and see what type/model it is. Odd it doesn't do it all the time. Really happens when it wants to.

I have never had it happen in our campers, but, it does happen fairly often. My dad has been doing a 50/50 mix of resorts and high sierra boondocking for about 40 years.. it's happened to him enough times that in his current ginormous class C, he added a second, in-line, one way valve..

I wouldn't say you have any better, or worse chance of having it happen, but 99% of the time, doing the shut off water run the pump will sort it out..

Well I did disconnect the city water and am using the pump now but the pump has been cycling on a few minutes after Shutting off for about a week now. Is the check valve in the pump or inline after the pump?
