Hello to all and a big thank you to the forum!  We just purchased our new 179 and couldn't/wouldn't have done this so effortlessly without the help from the owners forum.  While we had narrowed down our choice to move up to an R-Pod from a pop up, the information, tips and opinions on the forum helped us decide on model, floor plan and features.  Again, thank you to those who post while we newbies and potential owners lurk in the background!

I'm sure we'll jump in to the forum soon with questions and to ask advice as we get this thing out and about.  And speaking of being up and down the highways and back roads, is there an official (or unofficial) R-Pod acknowledgement when we pass or see one another?  A light flash, special wave or Pod Nod of recognition that shows we are of the same mind set?  Just asking because we don't want to appear ungrateful or uninformed.  Cheers all and we'll see you out there.

Welcome neighbor, we have owned our 177 since March 2011 and live about 25 miles north of you in Kewadin, along Torch Lake.  Hopefully we can meet sometime.  When we see another pod we either flash our lights or give a big wave if the window is down.  Some respond, some don't so don't feel bad if someone doesn't respond.  Funny thing when we are around Traverse City, which is often and we see a pod, we invariably will wave and then realize, we aren't towing ours!

Welcome and congratulations! We have really enjoyed our 2016 179. I have made a number of modifications which you can see by following the link in my signature. Perhaps some of them will be of use to you.

I don't know of any "official" signal. Sometimes with oncoming traffic, you don't get much of a chance to wave or flash lights before the other R-Pod is past. We saw one on and that was the case. Even if you do try to signal, the other driver may not feel comfortable enough towing to wave back.

Thanks Jato.  Wow. Six years of R-Pod ownership!  I'm not even sure what year the first model was produced!  As for a signal, I have a feeling many of us might just have enough time to stare across the median as we pass.  And yes, perhaps we can meet up sometime in the TC area.  Cheers!

Thanks for the welcome StephenH.  While lurking through the forum, I did notice your many contributions and postings.  They are very helpful as we envision how to customize the camper to our lifestyle.  Can't wait to live out of it for a few days!  Running out of time here in the north.  Cheers.

Curious as to where you purchased your pod from.  When we got ours we went to Hilltop RV in Escanaba (UP), the only other option was a dealer in Cadillac would would not return phone calls or give us the time of day.  This week still looks good, how about the State Park in Traverse City or Interlochen or up by us Barnes Park in Eastport on Lake Michigan.  Last year we went a bit late and ended up with a lot of snow coming down as we were camping in the UP of Michigan near Manistique.  Nice thing is we stayed quite cozy, that propane heater really kicks out the B.T.U.s!!!!

We went down to All Seasons RV in Muskegon.  On our way up to Copper Harbor we passed by Hilltop but didn’t have time to pop in.  Gaylord had one but not the 179.  Pleasant experience and fair price at All Seasons.  Missi handled the transaction.

We’re going to Platte River Sun/Monday for quick sorte.  Still have to drive into work for a day.  Then winterize and wait til Spring!
