I saw an advertisement for Horst Miracle Probes as a replacement for tank sensors.   Has anyone used them and is it difficult to replace the sensor in the r-pod tank.   I see the little screws and according to the Horst video it is just unscrew and replace with new ones.   I'm always a little skeptical when it says it's easy.

My black water has a flush, but it is my grey water tank that always shows 3/4 full.  I'm on my second remedy try of 1/2 filling with hot water and dishwasher detergent and driving around like an idiot to jostle up the water.  First try didn't work even after a two hours trip with the tank 1/2 full of cleaning above cleaning solution.

The probes advertised seem legit as far as the science but just want to know if anyone tried them.  And I appreciate any advise on replacing the probes.

Thanks!!
Deb

Is your Pod new? If so and your grey water tank sensor always shows 3/4 full you might have a bad sensor and need to have it checked out by your RV dealer. I know I've had to use the black water tank flush more then once to clear its sensors to empty but never had a problem with the grey water tank. Never heard of Horst Miracle Probes, they maybe great but before I would invest at least crawl under your Pod and check out the wiring to the tank or better if under warranty take it by your dealer.

I replaced mine in the black tank.  The issue is that the old probes are spin welded into the tank and can't be removed. The probes are also near the frame rail.  I had to drill 3/8" holes in the tank.  Unless you want to drop the tanks you need a very short right angle drill.  Since I replaced the probes, with the Horst probes, I have been getting accurate readings. I think it was worth it.

Has anyone converted the tank sensor system with the product offered by SeeLevel?  How does it work vis-a-vi reliability/accuracy?  Do the sensor receivers stick well to Pod tanks?

I note that some of the high end RV's use this system but they have nice interior tanks protected from the crud and harsh conditions to which the under-mounted exterior tanks of the pod are exposed.

The Horsh system has mixed reviews and to do all 3 tanks it costs around $80 for all the parts to complete the job.  The SeeLevel, with all the monitor strips and a new monitor with an LED readout of percentage full is about $170 and it looks pretty easy to install.

How did you seal the 3/8" holes around the new probes? How is the probe held in the tank? Do you superglue a nut to the outer tank wall, insert the new probe and then somewhow fasten the new probe to the nut?

I put the Horst sensors on my black tank a few weeks ago.  So far they seem to be working great.  I did have to drill 4 new 3/8" holes right beside each of the existing sensors.  Not a big deal.

The sensors have a seal that is compressed against the inside of the tank as a nut is tightened on the outside.  Just slide it in the hole, tighten the nut,  Attach the sensor wire with another nut (provided), and you're done.  No glue; nothing to seal.

Not on an RPOD but I did install the SeeLevel system on my Camplite. The camper came without any tank sensors so I got to choose the best one first. The SeeLevel works great on all three tanks; much better than the little internal probes I had on the RPOD. The sensor strips adhere very well to the outsides of the tank and are protected by a coat of rubber undercoating spray. Several other owners did the same with the same perfect results. Do it.

Great information! Like Teddy said I hope I never need it because so far my tank monitors have been working prefect but if I ever do need to upgrade or replace its good to know the options. In the past the black tank monitor would show partially full after dumping and need need to be flushed out a couple times to show empty but other then that no problems! Knock on Pod!
