4 gauge is plenty for a 12" run. It's what we used.

The switch will have a jumper going to the pole of choice on the battery, we used +, to one pole of the switch. Then on the other side of the switch will be the wire from the Pod that is currently going to the + post.

On our pod, the second wire went/goes to the power tongue jack.

Our pod was from before "solar ready" so we just attached our solar panels to the battery posts when needed.

Then when the stuff gets even better.. dual Trojan T 105's for serious boondocking.. Big smile

One more question about installing a switch, I ordered a 12" cable to go from the switch to the battery would 4 gauge battery wire be enough?  I ordered the cable from work without being able to see the current r-pod wire gauge.

Thanks

Furpod,
That was how I was planning on mounting my switch.
Just out of curiosity.....I see two wires connected to one side of the switch with only 1 wire coming off the other side.  Assuming the 1 wire goes to the battery positive and the other 2 wires are? Obviously 1 to the POD to supply power, but what is the other wire?

Thanks

We used a Hella brand switch, from Amazon, and mounted to the battery box lid.

Didn't install it yet, just got it yesterday.
Doing the install this weekend.
Here is the link to the switch I bought from amazon.  Also bought a few extra keys and a short 12" battery cable.
