Left Georgia Saturday and now in Wyoming and hoping to stay in Wind River area Friday night. Would love to have recommendations for Free or low cost places that are secluded. Stayed in Roosevelt National Park last night and there were 2 other Pods there 😊.

Thanks in advance to this wonderful group!!

Lots of places to stay in that area - New Fork Lake, Green River Lakes, Hoback Canyon, Big Sandy Openings, Louis Lake, Sinks Canyon...depends where you're presently located. Are you in Pinedale or Lander area?

We will be entering from Rawlings going toward Riverton. I read that you can just find a spot on National Forest  or BLM land and set up camp but sure don't want to try to settle down a few days and be on someone's property. Thanks

It's true. You can camp on BLM land. If you don't mind going further than Riverton, on to Lander and up toward Farson on Highway 28, Louis Lake is a beautiful area with lots of open land for camping - most not designated campsites but piled rock fire rings already built by former campers in most areas (although there may be a fire ban right now - don't know). Right in the pines. We don't go all the way to the lake - we camp away from it and drive to it. It's one of our favorite places to camp. It's also near a ghost town called South Pass City, the site of an old gold mine and worth seeing. It may be crowded this weekend in the area. There's a Rendezvous in Pinedale.

We have altered our plans and following your directions. Now headed that way on 28. Hope we can find a good spot to spend several days. Thanks so much.

Let me know how you like it!! Take a drive to Sinks Canyon while you're camping at Louie Lake. It's a short drive outside of Lander. You can also get to it by going down the dirt road past the lake - long drive but pretty. So much to see and do. If you ever eat away from your campground, Cowfish in Lander is a fabulous restaurant. Happy camping.

I recommend you drive over to Atlantic City and have a real old west experience by eating at the Mercantile in this "ghost town".   You won't be sorry you made the effort.      Cowfish is a pretty yuppie establishment, but has good food.

If you are hauling north down into Lander be advised the grade is long and steep with curves, and you can get going too fast very easily.

Safe travels and enjoy your time in Wyoming.

Thanks so much for the tips. We unhooked and have ridden to Sinks Canyon and now at Lander just sight seeing. Everything is so beautiful. We decided to stay a couple of days. We are headed to Tetons next if y'all have advice of free or low cost places to camp.

If you go toward Farson on 28 and then head toward Pinedale and on to Jackson and the Tetons on 191, there is a little dirt road about 65 miles past Pinedale that leads to Granite Hot Springs on the right side of the road. It's about 10 miles in but a beautiful natural hot spring like no other. There's camping back here. The closer you get to Jackson less cheap camping but lots of privates like KOA.

If you have a Natip\onal Parks seniors pass a camp site in the Tetons is 12.50 per day.  Wonderful, wooded sites.
