Hi all,

My wife and I are downsizing from a 2016 FR Micro Lite 23FB, love the 23FB but my health is slowing me down and were not ready to quite RV'ing.

We have owned towed 14 foot and a couple of 17 foot single axle RV's in recent past.

Some general questions if anyone can comment.

TV 2015 F150 2.7 Eco boost, factory tow package, Andersen WD, 11~12 mpg towing the FB23 at about 4600lbs.

Does the digital thermostat shut down both AC compressor and fan when temp is reached in AU mode, like home thermostat?

Have heard the Dometic 13.5 ac is noisy?

My champion 2000w Gen/Inverter will start and run my Coleman 13.5 FB23 AC here in mid Florida 95 degree 90% humidity. Coleman AC is ducted so maybe not a fair comparison. anyone using a Champion 2000 inverter/gen.

Were close to trading on a new 2017 "Green" 179 the model before the mid year blue and changes, seems like a good fit so far.

Thanks

Mike

Welcome to the group! We have a 179 and really like it, great kitchen area and a lot of storage. The a/c is fairly loud, but we did get used to it.

Congratulations!
Your 2.7L EcoBoost should pull an R-pod like a champ.
Yes. The AC is noisy. You will not get much argument here about that.
I think your 2KW generator may be marginal if you are running AC and almost anything else. Possibly OK if "just" running the AC.

Here's what my 2K will do. It will NOT run the AC and micro at same time. It will run AC if you disconnect battery or turn Converter CB off. It will run the micro and all of POD minus AC. Verified numerous times.

Reportedly Yamaha and Honda 2Ks perform a bit better than my Generac 2K.

As for the AC, while having it set on auto will shut the fan down when the compressor is not running, there are also the times when it will pause the fan to switch speeds between low and high. If you are running the AC at night, you might wish to leave the setting to low. It is easier to get used to the constant fan running than to be awakened when it starts and changes speed during the night.

All Comments pretty much confirmed what I think about my 2k gen/inverter on the Rpod, have done the math on amps load etc. I actually have two Champion Inverter/Gens the 2000 watt and the 3100 watt. The 3100 is just a bit heavier and bulky, I am spoiled with the 2k its easy to stow and lug around. May install a hard start capacitor in Dometic if available and or needed.

Sounds like the thermostat in AU will shut down the compressor and fan like my Coleman 13.5 in the 23FB.

Forgot to ask about axle lift kit, heard the pre 2017 mid year units could add the kit from Forest River would do this if available, anyone with a pre 2017 1/2 do the conversion.

Thanks

Mike

+1. The first night I ran the AC, I ran it on auto and didn't get a very restful sleep. I set the fan to low the next night and slept much better. The constant white noise from the fan makes a good sleeping pill.
