Looking to purchase our 1st Rpod.

We are studying the 178, 179 and 180.

Dealer I talked with in Liberty Tx says couples prefer the 180.

It will mainly be the two of us.

Looking for as much comfort as possible in the seating area.

We are also researching Texas Dealers in and around the Houston Area.

Recommendations are welcome.

We purchased a 182G (my husband's idea). I would have rather had more of a bathroom or kitchen, but it is great for storage!  We wanted bunks and another bed so we could have some of the grandkids join us.  It works great for that.

For the two of us, we chose the 179. We figured we would get more use out of the larger kitchen and storage and we could live with the small bathroom. However, it is something you will need to decide. Spend some time in each and see which one feels right.

FR reports that the 179 is the most popular model.  it is really personal preference.  We purchased an RV to not have to use public facilities.  We had a wet bath on a boat and hated it.  Not only did I have to leave the seat down but after a shower I had to dry the toilet.  We also do most cooking outside on a grill as indoor cooking sets off smoke alarms, hard to get the stovetop to simmer.  So a bigger kitchen was not of interest to us.  We did like the extra storage space in the 179 but the dry bath sold us on the 180 and we plan on making mods to add more drawers under the bed, under the dining seats, etc

Welcome to the group!
We have the 179, love the larger kitchen and the room of the couch on the slide out. They all have their special qualities, comes down to personal comfort.

Big fan of 179s, however don't cook inside. Have a 178 and happy, lot of storage. Place to sleep. Never wanted to sit inside all day and watch TV.

We recently bought a 179, and are preparing to leave tomorrow on our first trip. We threw in everything we could possible need for 3 days, and discovered we still have an empty cabinet and a couple empty drawers. We love all the storage this thing has, and we are looking forward to sitting on the couch and watching a movie tomorrow night.

Just the Missus and I. Started out 3 yrs ago with a used RP177.
It was quite comfortable for the 2 of us, but we learned quickly that the tiny wet-bath was not to our liking,
especially at 3 am.

We're in a 180 now and are lovin' it.

Good morning,

We were just in the same boat as you are now.  We ended up deciding on the 178 for a few reasons:
  • the queen size bed remains a bed - didnt want to keep making or converting the bed from the dinette
  • the larger dinette on the 178 had much better seating than the 171
  • the push-out kitchen gave considerable more space
  • the 178 is still fairly compact
I liked the 179 kitchen layout and the extra storage cabinets but we also wanted to keep the size/weight down.

They all have their advantages and everyone's preference will be different; those are just my thoughts.

We are really looking forward to our first summer with it though... and this forum is fantastic

Enjoy... K&s
