I hope this is understandable as I not very technical.

I was sitting at the "dinette" in the 179 and I heard water slowly running but didn't notice any puddles or leaks until I went outside.  I was connected to "city" water with a pressure control valve that was 5-6 years old and the park warned of high water pressure.  I noticed there was water coming out of the fresh water fill.  I surmise that the pressure control fixture failed at some time and this caused excessive pressure on whatever mechanism switches between city water and the pumping of fresh water from the tank.

What do I need to check --  The pump? just valves?  what else could be effected?

Turn off the city water at the spigot. Open a tap. Turn on the water pump. Let it run for a few seconds.Turn it off, and then on again. Repeat twice. Turn pump off. Close tap. Open city water spigot. all should be fine. That should reseat the one way valve.

You got me thinking Mark about the fact that I have never hooked up a water line to our 177 and it is going on 7 years old.  Wondering if there are any gaskets, o-rings that may be dried up or cracked because of non-use.

Nope. But you should hook up to city water sometime just to make sure the couple connections and hose between are tight and solid. Vibration could have loosened them over the miles..

The water flow would go from that connection, into a internal hose, and over to a T by the pump. That's all you have "bypassed" by running on holding tank only. It's all done in PEX or Flex Pex.. Out of any UV, so it should last until the dinosaurs come back.
