It's "PODdy Time"!
We picked up our brand spanking new RP180 today and we are in love with this thing. Can't wait for next weekend when we will do a shakedown weekend camping trip to Tugman campground, a local spot to get the bugs worked out. Looking forward to many fun adventures. ![]() |

I'm also toying with whether a Taco would pull my 2016 RP178 well in the NC mountains. Any experiences with Tacomas would be helpful.

Coming from a V8 you'd be disappointed. I towed a 172 with a 3.5L V6 Pilot and it did fine most of the time, but it struggled in the Rockies. I upgraded to my present Camplite 21RBS trailer that was 1000# heavier so I also upgraded to a 2013 Taco. However, since I was going to he Rockies I added a supercharger to the 4.0L V6 for altitude and grade. The Taco does fine in the Rockies and 8% grade @ 8600' in California, but the SC was worth the cost. That said, the 2016 Tacos are back to 3.5L and the SC is no longer available. The NC "mountains" are not the Rockies so you might be OK, but my first choice was still a V8. Unfortunately Toyota won't put a V8 in the Taco and I didn't want something as big as the F150. I think you would be OK with the 4.0L Taco, but I'd pass on the 3.5L. |

Charles, thank you for your honest assessment. I'm happy with my 1999 F150 5.4. I was hoping to upgrade to a crew cab V8, but the cost is out of reach for now.
