I don't understand how they can copy the r-pod when the company Heartland that built the MPG was taken to court by Forest River and I think they won. Unless Winnebago is paying a fee for use of the design and everything is legal.

Nice find! I hadn't seen interior photos. Very interesting. I would always lean towards the "original", but i guess if you had a winnie dealer closer this will open more options for buyers. So Forest River is manufacturing these or the Winn factory is manufacturing them?

I don't know what you all are talking about.
It doesn't look anything like a Rpod......it's RED. ![]() With a MSRP of 22K, I'm thinking it will retail close to a similar Pod. |

Fascinating. It seems that the Rpod is such an incredible hit that even Winnebago is having them made for them and selling them as a Winnebago. Great news for FR but I wonder how that will effect the quality of the Pods. Seems that FR can't keep up with the flow now, unless they designate another factory to manufacture them. Very interesting. Did you notice the price on the Winnie version. Wonder how they are going to justify the pricing against the Pod version. Business can be so fascinating. Let us watch and see what happens. Safe Travels.

I just found it @ http://www.rvt.com/Winnebago-WINNIE-DROP-1780WD-Teardrop-2016-Colorado-Springs-CO-ID6548613-UX115430
Yes, looks identical to the 178 except for curved dinette cushions. No, they did not have this at the Hershey show. fred

No doubt, the Winnie Drop is oem'd from R-Pod. Looks identical to my 178, inside and out!

I am not talking about the micro minnie, i am talking about the new Winnie Drop. Did you see that unit? Was it identical to an r-pod from the outside?

Ditto everything Bob said! We just saw it at Hershey RV show. We'll stick with our 178.
FWIW, we walked miles and looked at hundreds and have absolutely no buyer's remorse. One big disappointment was the Camplite. I know that it is a very well built small camper and was one of the main reasons I wanted to go to the show. I want one. I'm not gonna get one though. Wife was not impressed. She's right. They just do/did not present themselves well. They could be appointed sooo much nicer inside. Kinda looked like cheap contact paper on the cabinetry to make it look like "wood". Diamond plate step up to slide out dinette really turned her off. I tried pointing out the welded aluminum inside every cabinet and how strong everything was, but... We will stick with our 178. She loves it. fred

No. But just went to local RV show to look at Micro Mini Winni. A 17' trailer with dry bath. The trailer weighs about 600 lbs. more than our 171. They do not offer a convection microwave oven and the water heater is an instant heater. You have hot water for about 20 seconds and then it has to heat more. There is a vent for heat to the bathroom but not very effective according to the YOUTUBE video from an owner. Not sure a shower would be pleasant. The fit and finish is no better than FR and possibly worse. The price is substantially more than a comparable Pod w/o slideout. Did not make sense for us to trade our Pod in for a dry bath. Also saw the Rpod 180. The loss of storage space outside and under the bed was a deal killer for us. Also, the flat finish on the cabinets, made them look cheap. Staying with our 171. Safe Travels.

You guys heard anything about this new model coming out from Winnebago? I saw an exterior picture and it looked IDENTICAL to an r-pod...only painted like a minnie. It even says it has a chuckwagon back end in some models (r-pod garage model knockoff).
Curious if there is any info...I struck out searching the web.
