Yes there is a seal where the toilet attaches to the flange.  It could be leaking odors.  Generally on RV toilets it is a rubber seal, not wax like used on many home toilets. 
The two caps on the base have nuts under them, take them off and lift up.  You may have to disconnect the water supply if there is no slack/service loop in the line.

I fixed the leak around the shower drain. Still getting odor when the pod is closed up. Am suspecting the toilet now. The toilet holds water fine so the smell isn't coming in from there. Is there a seal on the bottom of the toilet that can leak? Any ideas/experience out there?
